Piazza Dante and its gardens stretch out in front of Trento railway station. In the centre sits the monument dedicated to Dante Alighieri, built in 1896 as a symbol of Italian culture at a time when Trentino was under the control of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The park is mainly home to conifers and includes a pretty little lake with swans.
