A ‘precious pearl in an even more precious treasure chest’, as it was described by the poet Fogazzaro, Lake Molveno is a natural alpine lake that was formed around 4,000 years ago by a powerful landslide.
The deepest lake in Trentino at 123m, Lake Molveno lies between the Brenta Dolomites (to the west) and the Gaza-Paganella ridge (to the east). The landscape outside the built-up area of Molveno features an interesting view right over the lake, as well as a pleasant view over the Dolomites and the mountains in the Outer Giudicarie.
