Mattia is 17 years old. Born and raised in a post-industrial province in northern Italy, he is the son of an old-fashioned trade unionist and an overprotective housewife. Sensitive and fragile, but also angry, he expresses himself through hip-hop music in a context of difficult social and family relationships. The sudden death of his older brother exacerbates his difficulties, fuels a lacerating sense of guilt and starts a period of great change. Mattia leaves school, starts working in a local factory and gives up music despite his talent. In search of a deeper meaning of existence and through his Moroccan colleague Murad, he approaches Islam. Thanks to a trip to Morocco and the friendship of Murad and his brother Rashid, Mattia sees his conversion to Islam as a passport to a more autonomous and meaningful life. But this is not enough to resolve his inner conflicts, those with his family, his colleagues and even his new Moroccan friends. Hurt by a love disappointment and in the grip of anxiety, Mattia is suspended between the prospect of a normal life and a dangerous drift. Almost without realising it, he takes the road to progressive isolation and radicalisation. Will he be able to resist the temptation of extremism?
Amid doubts, difficulties and discoveries, the film tells the story of a teenager of today, tempted by isolation and saved by friendship.
